20th April 1999
sound familiar? to maybe few people, not that i know of, it would be their birthday, or anniversary or something.
for some others, it is a sad day, a tragic day, 'a day that will live in infamy'.
15 people died this day.
on 20th April 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into their school with firearms, killing 12 before turning the guns on themselves. a taecher who saved a number of students died of blood loss, minutes before emergency personnel could reach him. the name of the school, Columbine High, Littleton, Colorado. this. is. madness.
wgy would any sentient being do that?
think about it. you and i both know american high school culture. they were bullied, mistreated, and they retaliated the only way they know how. they targetted the jocks and anyone that had bullied them, then killed themselves to escape the law. WRONG.
they were abused as kids, and they came from broken homes. the bitterness and anger finally overflowed and then....you know the rest. WRONG. were they involved in gangs and the like? NO. you and i could not have been more wrong.
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, seniors at the time of the event, came from stable homes. as is wont in high schools, they got picked on by the 'cool kids'. who wasn't? they did normal kids stuff, computer games, sports, they worked in a pizza parlour.
why? they hated. they hated. the 12 they shot did nothing to them. on April 20th, they walked into school in trench coats to hide their weapons. they actually put two propane tanks in the cafeteria which DID NOT EXPLODE. if they did, over 400 would be dead. they started outside the cafeteria, continued in the library where they killed 10, and ended back in the library, where they shot themselves. all that time, they were throwing pipe bombs around, laughing as they went. laughing.
they just hated everything. they did not target specific races. they shot everyone they could. were they religion haters? no. on one instance they asked a female student (the name eludes me) if she believed in God. she said yes and she was spared. wow. jesus saves man. my point is, they just...hated. all in all, 14 students including the gunmen were killed, along with one teacher.
how can there be so much hate? how can a person get so bitter, to the extent he/she would shoot someone n cold blood WHILE laughing. the senselessness is..i'm at a loss for words...ineffable...

blackest night darkest of shadows,
gifted to kill and hurt and maim,
tempestuously wicked,
cruelly painfull and spitefull,
withal in, loving kindness,
forbearance overflowing,
sunshine, grace notwithstanding,
assurance and forgiveness,
beautiful mercy and grace.
